DHR17 Day 7 — Cedar River, MI to Appleton, WI (120 Miles)
The day of two thunder storms. The first delayed our start until 9:30am so we decided to catch breakfast at the local Shell station, which was more of a fully loaded truck stop and full grill. It was actually one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time. The service was friendly and the food was very ample and delicious. We also presented some Great Dad Coins while there, including Kenny Marks the local Sheriff.
The second thunder storm after lunch created another long delay, so we chilled in the RV for a couple of hours. Let’s be honest, riding in the rain, into a headwind most of the day, having to use headlamps for more than two hours and arriving in Appleton after 11pm was a grind. These challenging days are a metaphor for being a dad (and a mom). You have to be present every day not just the easy days. Mission accomplished, we honored a good number of dads and got to the destination.
We’ve covered 754 miles in seven days. See some photos below.
Thanks for all the prayers, emails, phone calls, texts and donations. Happy (and hopefully a dry) Thursday!!!
