June 1 – Groton, CT to Commack, NY (72 Miles)
Good morning and greetings from Commack (Long Island), NY
We’ve traveled a total of 184 miles. Yesterday was a bright sunny day with temperatures in the mid 70’s again. We took the ferry from New London, CT to Orient Point, LI. We met Kenny who is a 68 year old Ironman triathlete, Tough Mudder, Spartan Racer, hiked the entire Appalachian Trail (over six months) among other over-the-top accomplishments. Oh and he’s a Vietnam veteran who made a $100 donation after being presented with a Great Dad Coin. Thank you Kenny!!!
72 miles
We pedaled through the North Fork wine country and covered a total of 72 miles, a PR for all but myself. I’m very proud of my fellow riders and thankful for their commitment to take the time away from family and work as well as raise funds. Once we arrived at the Commack Hampton Inn, we were greeted by a cameraman from Channel 12 Cablevision as well as a reporter and photographer from Newsday, Long Island’s number one newspaper. I’ve attached some photos from the day.
If you’re looking for a Father’s Day gift, please consider a Great Dad Coin and purchasing a copy of my new book entitled 21st Century Dads: A Father’s Journey To Break The Cycle Of Father Absence. All the proceeds go to charity. It’s available on Amazon.
Off to Manhattan today for a 4pm reception at UBS. We hope to get a police escort to help navigate the city streets. Your prayers are also welcome 🙂
Thanks again. Make it a great day!!!
David Hirsch
