June 14 – Sandusky to Toledo, OH (81 Miles)
Greetings from Toledo
16 days down and only 5 to go 🙂
DHR traveled 81 miles yesterday for a total of 1,024 miles since leaving Boston.
Yesterday was another great day for riding. We had overcast skies most of the day with temperatures in the low 70s. Much of the day was spent on the well maintained North Costal Inland Trail.
We had lunch at the Wilson Nature Center in Lindsey, OH. While off the trail, we had a higher than average number of “road closed” situations due to construction, but nothing that prevented us from altering our planned route.
Honored Dads
We met and honored some extraordinary dads again yesterday with Great Dad Coins, including Bill Henderly, a Sandusky police officer and father of eight and grandfather of three, who provided an escort out of town. We also honored firefighters in Margaretta and Freemont as well as a host of individual dads we encountered along the way.
We rolled into TV13 the local ABC affiliate about 4:45pm to do an interview with Rich Graytop, which appeared on the 11pm broadcast.
We decided to order in pizzas and salads vs. going out for dinner, which was a nice change of pace.
If you have not yet donated, please do so today by clicking here.
If you’re looking for a Father’s Day gift, please consider:
1) a Great Dad Coin (www.teamdad.com), or
2) a copy of my new book entitled 21st Century Dads: A Father’s Journey To Break The Cycle Of Father Absence, available on Amazon.
As a reminder, all the proceeds go to charity. Also, for anyone who donates $100 or more, I will send you an autographed copy of my book.
We’re off to Detroit today.
Thanks again. Make it a great day!!!
