June 6 – Baltimore, MD to Charles Town, WV (79 Miles)
9 states in 8 days
Good morning and greetings from Charles Town, WV our 9th state in eight days. We traveled 79 miles yesterday for a total of 512 miles.
It was a hot sunny day so I decided to don my riding sleeves to minimize the sun exposure.  We’re down to tow riders this week, just me and Nic, my new friend from Warsaw, Poland.  After visiting Camden Yard, home of the Orioles, and presenting a couple of Great Dad Coins, it was off to the hills of central Maryland  Oh the hills!!  Did I mention the hills? There are two benefits to climbing the hills, the first is you get to see everything, since you’re going so darn slow and the second is the amazing glides down at frightening speeds.
The highlight of the day was stopping for lunch at the Mt. Airy Bike Store and meeting Larry Black, who has owned the place for 30+ years. He has thousands of bikes of ALL types and an amazing collection of everything bike related.  We even got Wilk on a bike today.  If you’re in the area it’s a must see or you can visit at www.bike123.com.
Beautiful Maryland
The countryside of Maryland is quite scenic.  We had a few minor delays today.  Twice because of road construction and once the road was closed to airvac someone out of an accident. Crossing from Maryland to West Virginia across the Harper’s Ferry Bridge over the Potomac River was also quite memorable. Included below are some photos.
If you’re looking for a Father’s Day gift, please consider a Great Dad Coin as well as purchasing a copy of my new book entitled 21st Century Dads: A Father’s Journey To Break The Cycle Of Father Absence, available on Amazon here. As a reminder, all the proceeds go to charity.
We’re off to Hancock, MD today.  No we’re not back tracking.
Thanks again. Â Make it a great day!!!
David
