June 8 — Hancock to Frostburg, MD (50 Miles)
Greeting from Frostburg, MD
This message was created the morning of June 9th and is actually the 10th daily update. DHR traveled 50 miles yesterday for a total of 610 miles since leaving Boston.
The day started with a hearty breakfast at the Potomac River Grill, followed by a pretty severe downpour. Since it was a lighter day mileage-wise we decided to postpone the start to avoid starting out on a damp note.
Today’s challenges were the elevation and high (head) winds. There were two 1.6 mile segments (as measured by the MapMyRide app) where we averaged 5 mph (uphill and into the wind) and 27 mph (going downhill and into the wind).
Not as many dads to present Great Dads Coins as on other days. The day wrapped up with a nice meal at the Sand Spring Saloon & Steakhouse.
If you’re looking for a Father’s Day gift, please consider a Great Dad Coin as well as purchasing a copy of my new book entitled 21st Century Dads: A Father’s Journey To Break The Cycle Of Father Absence, available on Amazon here. As a reminder, all the proceeds go to charity.
We’re off to Uniontown, PA today.
Thanks again. Make it a great day!!!
David
