June 12 — Shamrock, TX to Weatherford, OK (100 Miles)
Greetings from Weatherford, OK. It’s been 12 days since leaving Santa Monica and we have covered 1,383 miles on the Dads Honor Ride.
It’s been an amazing journey both physically and mentally. We’ve honored hundreds of dads, raised a good amount of awareness for local fatherhood organizations and raised some funds. Young Dave and I pushed off this morning from from the Best Western in Shamrock, TX, suited up in our rain gear, just as it started to rain. The storm clouds were all around us throughout the day, but we only had to ride in the rain for a couple of hours. We made it to Oklahoma (state #5 of 8) today. After a brief stop at the National Route 66 Museum, with the ginormous sign, it was off to Weatherford. We logged a respectable 100 miles at a moderate pace. We finished riding, relaxed for a while and then headed off to Lucille’s Road House for a nice dinner.
If you haven’t already done so, would you please make a donation in honor (or memory) of your dad? Thank you.
Have a great weekend.
- We came prepared.
- Looking a little dorky but hoping to stay dry.
- And they’re off.
- State number five, only three more to go.
- Using a gas stop to honor a local dad.
- Time to refuel.
- Some of the Dads Honor Ride fan club.
- Big Tex and the rig.
- Time to relax and reflect on the day just past.
- A solid day but at a rather slow pace.
